Does anyone have some home remedies for helping pets to stop itching?

I have a Dog that has allergies to both food and airborne sources. In the spring she is scratching, scratching, scratching, licking and appears to be not comfortable. I have fed many types of food and tried many types of shampoos and have made a lot of progress.
Besides getting him shots of Prednisone from the Vet, does anyone have some good alternatives?

My dog has the same issue.
First make certain your dog has no fleas by using a flea comb all over. Some dogs are so sensitive to fleas that a single bite can through them into an itching frenzy.
Second, try using dilute tea tree oil. I wet a big sponge with water, add a couple drop of tea tree oil then squeeze to get it to move through the sponge. Next I dab and squeeze the diluted oil over my dog. Tea tree prevents fungal and bacterial infections where they scratch and appears to be soothing. Make certain you dilute it and start very dilute.
Third use some hydrocortizone with aloe cream on raw spots.
Diet wise its very hard since allergies vary so widely. I use Wellness with no grains and supplement with organic chicken and brown rice. I also give a daily vitamin and was using California Naturals skin and coat oil which is no longer available since they were bought by Procter and Gamble.
Hope this helps!
Hi,
I came accross you page and was reading about your story with your Dog. We encountered the same problem with our pet dog. However, a friend of mine recommended we used 4life Transfer Factor Animal Stress Packs. http://www.4life.com/shopping/productdetail.aspx?mode=0&iid=267&cid=74
Tranfer Factor products are US patented products with an exclusive line for the health and well being. My wife and I became distributors after we saw the results with our pet and ourselves. The benefit of becoming a distributor you get to purchase at wholeprice, plus you receive what call a rapid rewards when you purchase 100LP or more.
If you have any questions, let me know.

This home remedy helps throwing up and itching. If your dog is not allergic to any of these: basil, rosemary, milk, eggs, and cinnamon. Then, cook the egg scrabbled, use 1/2 of the scrambled egg in a bowl, then pour the milk about 1/4 of a cup and grind the rosemary and basil separately. Now, mix all the ingredients together and put some of it on the most irritating part. DO NOT drench it. Just dab. then, put some on the nose. For about a week or so... until the itching either goes away or there is significantly less itching.
I have a Degree in Hollistic Pharmacology and I find that Alfafo put into the food helps heal the skin and stops most major Allergy affects. Also a warm apple cider vinegar bath will sooth dry itchy skin too .Bless you and the pup.
You could also try soaking her in Epsom Salt. It does seem to help with a lot of things. It's just a suggestion, not really sure it would help with this problem, but it is worth a try. :)
Dry skin is a common problem in dogs. I think, most of allergies are food related. So try a different protein and also use a dog shampoo to clean him. And try to avoid over bathing, because it can also cause itching too.
According to my knowledge, it is due to ph imbalance in body. So, nothing to worry about it. my doggy had the same problem, but after some days it disappeared automatically.
I do not know any home remedies because there is many great shampoos out there to help. You cannot go wrong with a lot of them. They will stop the itching right away.
Every year, between 6 and 8 million dogs and cats enter US animal shelters. The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) estimates that approximately 3 to 4 million dogs and cats are euthanized yearly in shelters across the United States..Norwalk CT Veterinarian
Keep your house and the area where you pet is roaming clean. However, your pet's fur can collect allergens like pollen, dust, and mold spores from the environment.
Might be your dog is facing the problem of itching and scratching because of the dust in hair. There are so many shampoos available in market that will surely help it lot.

Itchy skin is a common condition in most dogs caused due to various reasons. It could be due to poor nutrition, allergies, dry skin conditions, yeast infections, mange, or insect bites.
Regards,
Allergies are very common problem with the Dogs.I would recommend bathing solution of apple cider vinegar.Make sure not to get it in the dogs eyes! Rinse of and then dry off, then when the dog is dry put 50/50 solution of ACV in a spray bottle and spray all over coat. This should help to prevent itching.Good luck!
Regards,
I agree with the above post... First, check for fleas, if your dog has fleas they are more than likely problem. So once you rid your pet of those intruders...Then you can treat the itchiness symptomatically. Until you are able to determine the root of the problem, which does take time and work on our part.
I have a bulldog, she is one itchy girl...To soothe her itchiness I've used witch hazel. Its inexpensive and a natural astringent. It doesn't sting, and its soothing. I've also used hydro cortisone ointment, I choose to use ointment mostly because its more difficult to rub off but its still possible. Often times I will give her one 25 mg benedryl with her meal but that doesn't always provide immediate relief, because of their different metabolisms. I always provide her with clean cool bedding, like a sheet, that seems to help her quite a bit..
However, like I've said above, there's always an underlying problem... So, your real work is to try and figure out what exactly is causing your pets discomfort. Whether its food allergies, environmental, airborne, or fleas... It's good that you're looking for help, it's always helpful to hear what others have to say.
Also, I feed a one protein food. Natural Balance, sweet potato and fish. You can also give a cool, (provided the weather permits) a cool oatmeal bath, once a week... too much bathing can make the problem worse. (And you should always use products designed specially for our pets.) If there are open sores or hair loss, like you'd find with hot spots; I would recommend shaving the area, so it can breath and then putting some antibiotic ointment, Neosporin on any open sores...
Hope this helps. Good luck! ;-)
I haven't tried this myself, but have recently considered it.

Poor doggy! Well, I haven't faced such a problem yet but looking for the suggestion to be conscious about this kind of allergic problem because it's really very painful for the sufferers. I hope you've got a suitable recommendation from the above. Thanks for noticing.
Well see you can try alovera to get cure from it but its a natural habit of dogs cant be igsnored it!!!!!!!
This is very interesting content! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your points and have come to the conclusion that you are right about many of them. You are great.
What triggered the itching of your pet? Maybe your pet is allergic to some kind of food or something.
Get itching Relief with alovera home remededy the powerful product for itching!!!!!
From what I know many breeds develop skin problems , you have to groom them often, but not wash them very often especially with any king of shampoo. Don't forget to get pet ID tags just in case and maybe a plastic cone to put over their head for a while.
I think this is natural process of Dog itching but it will be harm to human health.
