Commenting Guidelines

Animals.com invites people of different perspectives to share their ideas about what is good for animals. But we're also serious about publishing content that adds value, and creating an environment that's civil.

So, if you're new to Animals.com, your comments will be moderated by real humans before they're published, to see if they pass the 'civil' and 'adds value' tests.

On the civil side of the equation, we're looking for comments that are respectful of other people and their views. In terms of what it means to add value, it's easier to describe what doesn't-- for example comments like: "interesting" or "I read that too". Also, please insert links into your comments only as needed to help make a point.

Animals.com will reject any comments that do not comply with these guidelines or the Terms of Use. Realizing it's very tricky to moderate public interaction-- to strike a good balance between freedom of expression and maintaining standards for quality, Animals.com will do our best to be fair and open in the process.

If you believe you have had a comment rejected unfairly, or if you are having trouble getting past our spam filter (sorry!), or if you would like to suggest changes to these guidelines, please write to us using the feedback form.

Animals.com is also building an Advisory Board to help hone our editorial policies and decide when and if questionable comments or content should be published. We are seeking for a balance in interests and perspective on this board. If you would like to participate on our Advisory Board, please let us know.

Thanks for helping making Animals.com a respectful and tolerant place to discuss, debate and decide what it means to be animals-friendly.
